Launching in September 2000, Telemundo
has quickly become the leader in Hispanic television in Massachusetts and
New England. As an affiliate of NBC, Telemundo is committed to
broadcasting the highest quality of news, sports and
entertainment.
EXCELLENCE IN JOURNALISM From its inception, Telemundo has been recognized for excellence in news
broadcasting. Telemundo’s news division is the source for news coverage
for U.S. Hispanics. Its leading news programs are delivered by award-winning
reporters and veteran anchors, such as Pedro Sevcec, Maria Celeste Arraras,
and María Antonieta Collins. Telemundo is the premiere source of
information for Hispanics around the country, providing them with the local,
national, and international news that matters and makes a difference to the
community.This tradition of excellence continues. In 2004, Telemundo made broadcast
history as the only Spanish broadcast network to carry all three
presidential debates in their entirety. In addition, Telemundo provided the first exclusively non-English language Olympic broadcast in
U.S. television history. The 169.5 hours in Spanish on Telemundo is nearly equal to the 171.5 total hours of coverage on NBC from Atlanta
just eight years ago.
SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY

campaigns are just a few examples of Telemundo's commitment to the
local Latino
community: Leer Para Vencer (Read to Succeed), where Telemundo
partners with local public libraries and community centers to take on the
literacy efforts at the grass-roots level. Proyecto Fama, Telemundo's version of
American Idol, where viewers are encouraged to showcase their talent
during an 8 week program. Juguetes y Sonrisas, (Toys and Smiles) Telemundo
brings Boston’s Hispanic community together for the holiday season.
Telemundo spear-heads a drop
off box initiative, where toys are placed at two different business locations and a
number of Universities in the area. Telemundo also services
the television industry through one of its newest and most innovative
educational programs, Taller Telemundo; offering Hispanics a remarkable
opportunity to get trained and have a better chance to break in the
television industry.
Through community initiatives like these and maintaining its cutting-edge
position in entertainment, sports, and news programming designed by and for

Yahoo and Telemundo in Online Deal -- Newsday.com
Yahoo Inc. and Telemundo announced plans to combine their U.S. Spanish-language
websites Wednesday, a move they hope will help capture a larger part of a
rapidly expanding Latino online audience.
The new site, Telemundo.yahoo.com, will blend Yahoo's en Español's e-mail,
search and music services with access to content from the juicy telenovelas and
entertainment that attract Telemundo.com's audience.

This inquisitive Puerto Rican is committed to increasing positive
portrayals of Latinos in the media. Her dedication brought her to community
access television. Television production became her passion. She pursued a
degree in Film and Television at Boston University. Digna is a member of the
National Association of Latino Independent Producers. Her experience with NALIP
has been instrumental in broadening her vision and fostering her professional
growth.
